Delete your data
Last updated: 7 September 2026
There are two things you might want to delete, and they work differently. A television's channel list you can remove yourself, in under a minute. A helper account has to be deleted by us, because the dashboard has no button for it yet — so ask, and we will.
Delete a television and its channel list
You can do this yourself, from the same phone you set the television up with.
- Sign in at my.thegoodremote.com.
- Open the television you want to remove.
- Choose Unlink this TV.
That deletes the channel list, the schedule, and everything the dashboard knew about that set — whether it was on, what it was showing, and which channels had been failing. The television goes back to showing No Channels Configured, and it keeps nothing of yours except what you typed into it directly.
Delete what is on the television itself
Your provider's address, username and password are stored on the television and have never been sent to us. To remove them, uninstall the app, or use Clear storage in the television's own Android settings for The Good Remote. Either one removes them completely.
Delete your helper account
Email info@thegoodremote.com from the address you signed up with, and ask us to delete your account. We will confirm when it is done, within 30 days and usually much sooner.
Deleting the account removes your email address, your password hash, every television linked to it, and every channel list belonging to those televisions. Nothing is kept afterwards.
What we never had in the first place
- No viewing history. The dashboard holds what a television is set to now. It has never kept a record of what anybody watched.
- No provider credentials. Those stay on the television and go only to the provider they belong to.
- No advertising identifiers, and nothing sold to anybody.
